Extension training is an investment, and the difference between a great course and an average one shows up in every install you do afterwards. Before you book, here's what to look for.
1. How many people are in the class?
This is the single biggest factor. In a large group, you'll spend most of the day watching. In a small group, the educator can correct your sectioning, tension and placement as you go.
Mane Baby training sessions are capped at four hairdressers.
2. Do you work on a real model?
Practising on a mannequin head is useful, but it doesn't teach you how real hair, real scalps and real clients behave. Look for a course where you complete a full install on a live model, guided step by step.
3. Do you see a full install first?
Watching a complete install — colour matching, sectioning, placement and cut-in — before you touch a weft gives you the full picture of what "done properly" looks like.
4. Who's teaching?
Ask whether the educator is a working extension stylist. Someone who installs extensions every week will know the shortcuts, the problems and the client questions that a presenter won't.

5. Does it cover colour matching?
Colour is where installs succeed or fail. Make sure matching and blending are part of the course, not an afterthought. (We've also written a guide on colour-matching weft extensions.)
6. Does it cover the business side?
Knowing how to install is only half of it. A good course should help you with pricing, marketing your extension services and creating content in your salon.
7. What do you leave with?
Check whether you'll be certified at the end, whether you'll have access to training resources afterwards, and whether there's ongoing support when you have questions with your first clients.
8. Can you actually buy the product?
There's little point training in a method if you can't easily get the hair. Check that training connects to a wholesale account so you can start booking clients straight away.
